I found this course on Day 6 so I'm grateful for that!

My relationship with gratitude is long. As long as I've been alive (soon to be 51). My mum is a wonderful model for gratitude, openly expressing it often as I grew up. I am so grateful for the amazing opportunities I've had, people I've met and places I've been.

I think everyone complains and gets a bit shitty at times, but underlying those moments is a lovely gratitude base, a point from which I've built my life. I've had my fair share of shit but I was always grateful for the people who helped me find my way out of it.

I’m so glad you found the course! Thanks so much for joining.

It’s so great your mom was a good model for gratitude. This is a reminder for me to be that for my girls!

I started this journey because as soon as I saw your post about this...I got super curious! Plus, it felt absolutely right!

What mind-boggled me about the exercise was my family's relationship with gratitude and how deep it's entrenched into them. While they still compain from time to time which is so normal!

How we prioritise not wasting food, the clothes we have and the roof over our heads. Health especially. It humbled me a lot and made me appreciate them more.

I used to scoff at my grandfather when he used to say, "I have my family who loves me, a roof over my head, money for food and basic necessities, and a wife who's my companion. What else do I need?"

I get that now!

Oh, that's beautiful! I love your grandfather's perspective. As kids, we often didn't get it, but being able to listen to that or think of that as an adult now adds a new layer. It is a great reminder...what else do we really NEED? A lot of it is what we WANT...and that's different! (Obviously, it's okay and natural to want, but not at the detriment to our present happiness.)
