A Special Invitation: Share Your Writing on Soul Journaling Sessions!
Submit your writing to be featured on the podcast & Substack publication
Let’s Collaborate in 2024!
For a long time now, I’ve dreamed of creating a project that allows me to not only tell my stories, but to also give others an opportunity to share theirs.
I didn’t know what format this would take. I considered creating my own live literary show where people would come and read their essays, almost open-mic style (inspired by all the live literary events I would attend when I lived in Chicago). I even considered forming a small publishing company (I’m still not ruling this one out for someday). It wasn’t until I created the Soul Journaling Sessions podcast that I realized this could be the place.
I am excited to kick off 2024 with a special invitation for you to share your writing and stories here on Soul Journaling Sessions, if you feel called.
What will this look like?
I am keeping the format somewhat open to accommodate different personalities and comfort levels, but here’s the general idea:
You can submit your writing to be featured on an episode of the podcast. This piece can be:
Writing that you journaled in response to one of the prompts shared in a previous episode
A completely original piece of writing in the format of a journal entry or personal essay
For the episode in which your work is featured, you can choose to either be a guest host and read your own essay, or I can record and read it for you.
You can choose to write journal prompts connected to the themes of your essay, or I can write them for you, and they will also be shared on the episode.
Above all, I want you to feel comfortable sharing your writing, so whether you choose to read your own work or not will not impact whether your work is selected.
You are also welcome to submit as many pieces as you’d like. While not all may be featured or featured right away, I am completely open to recurring guest hosts!
What I’m Looking For
I am considering creating a sub-category/series for these episodes and calling them “Open Journal.” Think of this as you opening your journal to share your thoughts, feelings, and stories with us. This is not a traditional publication, so I will not be looking for perfect grammar or editing any of your work. This is meant to be a space for you to share your stories in the most authentic way possible. Please, write like you talk. Be a human being. Tell us who you are without trying to be perfect.
Where Your Work Will Be Featured
If your work is selected for an episode, it will be featured on the podcast and here on Substack in written form. Clips will also be shared on social media (and shared with you so you can share them on your social channels, too). While your work will be featured, this is a non-exclusive publication, so you can share this writing anywhere else you want. It will continue to be yours.
Are You Ready?
Feeling excited at the thought of submitting your work? Or perhaps even a little bit nervous or scared, but in a good way? You can fill out the submission form right now! You don’t have to have the completed piece ready to submit (though you are welcome to upload it if it is ready). You can start with a summary of what you’d like to write about and then share the completed piece with me later.
(Note: if you do not have a Google email address and cannot access the Google Form to upload, please reply and send me an email directly so I can assist you.)
I can’t wait to start this new series within Soul Journaling Sessions and to give more people an opportunity to share their stories!
Please leave any questions or thoughts in the comments below, and I’ll get back to you.
With much love & gratitude,
Marcy
I uploaded my proposal so hope it reached you ok?
I would very much like to submit a proposal but I am afraid I do not have a Google account. My email address is mirandajmarsh@btinternet.com
