Journaling with Astrology & Tarot: Sagittarius & Temperance
Journal prompts to tap into the energy of Sagittarius & the Temperance Tarot card
Our Journaling with Astrology & Tarot meditative journaling series for paid subscribers continues this month with Sagittarius & the Temperance card.
Each Astrological sign is linked with a Tarot card in the Major Arcana. Their themes and messages reinforce each other, helping us to work more intentionally with the energy of each sign and season. For Sagittarius, that card is Temperance, which reminds us of the importance of maintaining a harmonious balance in our lives and of finding a middle ground between the extremes.
The Temperance cards featured here are from the following decks: The Cozy Witch Tarot by Amanda Lovelace, the Moon Void Tarot by Stefani Caponi, the Modern Witch Tarot by Lisa Sterle, The Light Seer’s Tarot by Chris-Anne, and the Mystic Mondays Tarot by Grace Duong. They all encourage a balancing or blending, though not all involve the liquid and chalice.
Sagittarius & Temperance Themes
Sagittarius season (approximately November 22 - December 21) is the perfect time to follow your curiosity, go on adventures, and experiment and explore. If you’re feeling called to explore the unknown anywhere in your life, listen to that calling. Go out there and gain the knowledge and experience that your soul craves right now.
Temperance supports the themes of Sagittarius in that it encourages us to explore and experiment, to dabble in the physical and spiritual realms, so we can reach a state of balance and create the perfect harmonious blend. Sometimes we have to experience the extremes (too much, too little) in order to discover a happy medium, and the Sagittarius is willing to explore the unknown in order to gain the wealth of knowledge needed to resolve life’s big questions.
My Experience
My eldest girl, now two years old, is a Sagittarius and Sagittarius is all over her chart. This girl loves to learn, explore, and try different things. Unlike many toddlers, she eats everything (for now), including vegetables most toddlers would turn away. She even likes some spice in her food! She’s not afraid to taste (or experience) the extremes.
Seeing her move about in the world has been wonderful inspiration to try new things and not be afraid to make mistakes or fail. She encourages me to let everything I do be a big experiment—that’s where the fun is. But we’re often trained to only spend time on things that have more guaranteed outcomes. So if you find you’re doing a lot of that in your life, spending more time on those things that are low-risk or have proven results, consider creating a bit more balance by finding areas where you can experiment and explore the unknown. Start small by simply trying something new.

How to work with this course
The course is designed to be completed over three days, but you can choose to take it at whatever pace you’d like. In these audio sessions, I read the journaling prompts and you journal along with me for about two minutes on each prompt, while music plays in the background. Each session has a total of four journal prompts. If you are unable to listen to the audio, the journal prompts are also listed below.
If you’d like additional insight on what you can learn from the themes of Sagittarius & Temperance, I’d be happy to pull a Tarot or Oracle card for you. Just leave a note in the comments section on this post or send me a DM letting me know you’d like a reading, and I’ll pull a card for you!
