Back when I lived in Chicago, this is around the time that Winter would start to feel like it was going on forever. Living in Arizona now without the cold and snowy weather, it feels a bit different, but that sense of sluggishness after a long January does somehow remain.
Perhaps it is a little feeling of letdown after the excitement and busyness of the holiday season. Or maybe it’s the pressure to be chasing after resolutions and goals, and either getting off to a slow start with them or the whole chase itself getting tiring. We so often fight our natural urge to rest during the winter.
In recent years, I’ve learned about Imbolc, a Celtic fire festival that is part of the Wheel of the Year, and it spans February 1-2 in the Northern Hemisphere. This is a time to honor the transition, to honor the return of the light after a long period with darkness. It is the halfway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox.
In modern life, we don’t often take the time to honor the transitional phase or space. We honor the beginnings, and sometimes, the endings. But the space in between is just as powerful if we are intentional about it.
I recently created an audio course for Insight Timer to honor Imbolc and encourage self-reflection at this time, and I want to share it with you all.
I wasn’t sure if I would share this here, as this course is a little different from the others in that it is focused on Tarot & Oracle card messages. For each session, I ask the cards one question and pull one Tarot and one Oracle card in response, then bring forth a message for the collective. Each session also includes a short meditation.
I am currently working on my Oracle Card Reader Certification and very much enjoy working with Oracle & Tarot—but I have been unsure if my readers here on Substack will be interested in getting content like this from me.
So this is me softly introducing this type of content to you, and what’s great about it is that the questions I ask the cards also make for excellent journal prompts to do on their own. And after reading each message, I also give you the chance to journal on how the message makes you feel and how it might apply to you.
If you’re interested in exploring Imbolc, the messages, and/or the prompts, the full course is below for you. Please let me know what you think and if the messages resonate with you!
If you’d like additional insight and your own personal message for Imbolc, I’d be happy to pull a Tarot or Oracle card for you. Just leave a comment on this post on Substack and let me know you’d like for me to pull a card.
