It’s Thanksgiving here in the US (and it’s my daughter’s 1 year birthday), and so today I wanted to take a little time to thank all of YOU.
Thank you so much for being a subscriber. Thank you for taking the time to read/listen to my work. Thank you for supporting a new creator like me who wants to spend more time doing what she truly loves. I’ve spent the majority of my adult life creating and doing things for other people and supporting their businesses, dreams, or endeavors. But this space, Soul Journaling Sessions, is the first time that I’ve spent real, significant time on my own creations. And so it means more than you know to have you here, reading my original work, which I create for no other reason than the desire to share stories and bring all of us together.
So today I have a little thank you gift for you. Below is an audio journaling course focused on exploring gratitude. I created this course originally for Insight Timer, where it is only available to their premium subscribers. The audio file for each day is included below, and I’ve included the journal prompts in case you are unable to listen to the audio.
(If you already follow me on Insight Timer and have been listening to this course, please feel free to ask for a card pull in the comments there or below—I’d love to give you a special bonus reading!)
Give Thanks: Explore Gratitude Through Journaling - Course Intro
Lesson 1: Your Relationship With Gratitude
Journal Prompts:
Growing up, what was I taught as far as when and how to express gratitude?
Does what I've been taught about gratitude still resonate with me as an adult?
When is it challenging for me to express gratitude, or when does it feel inauthentic to express it?
What leads me to express genuine gratitude, and how do I naturally express it?
Lesson 2: Gratitude Blocks - Part 1
Journal Prompts:
Do I feel worthy of expressing gratitude? Why or why not?
When I feel resistance to expressing gratitude for my life and any blessings that come with it, what do I feel is the root or source of this resistance? Is it guilt? Fear? Worthiness? A combination of these? Take a moment to explore the source or sources of your personal resistance.
What might help me release these blocks, any feelings of unworthiness, guilt, or fear, that I have around expressing gratitude? What baby steps can I take?
Lesson 3: Gratitude Blocks - Part 2
Journal Prompts:
How can I reframe how I view or define gratitude in order to help me overcome my blocks toward it?
How might I be able to strike a healthy balance between expressing gratitude and acknowledging the challenges and difficulties of others?
Why is it important for me to ultimately acknowledge the gifts I've been given in this lifetime?
How can my gratitude help me support or serve both myself and others?
Lesson 4: Gratitude For Others
Journal Prompts:
Who in my life am I most grateful for?
Who has supported me the most on my journey? Who has always been there for me?
Who inspires me, or whose work do I admire? You may not even know them personally, but they help lift your mood or get you through a tough day (artist, writer, musician, teacher or guide, someone on social, etc).
Write a short note of gratitude to one of these individuals.
Lesson 5: Gratitude For Self
Journal Prompts:
What have others seen in me and expressed gratitude for?
What parts of myself am I most proud of? What parts of myself do I want to celebrate?
What do I enjoy most about being in my own company?
Where and when have I shown strength greater than I thought I had?
Write a short thank you note to yourself for being YOU. Tell yourself why you are proud of who you are.
Lesson 6: Gratitude For Life Experiences
Journal Prompts:
What circumstances or situations in my life am I thankful for? (Ex: have a comfortable home/space to live, having access to good and healthy food, etc)
What experiences am I thankful I've had in this life or that I get to have in this life?
What emotions or feelings am I thankful that I am able to feel fully?
What is something I get to do every day that I am grateful for?
Lesson 7: Gratitude For Challenges
Journal Prompts:
What are some reasons for me to be thankful for my character flaws? How do they help balance me, what do they teach me?
Looking back, what setbacks have been redirections that I am now grateful for?
What gifts have come out of challenging moments in my life?
What have my most difficult relationships taught me
Looking now at the challenges I'm currently facing in my life, and to any that may come in the future,...how might I begin to plant the seeds of gratitude for what they are teaching me?
Lesson 8: Your Gratitude Practice
Journal Prompts:
Now that I've explored gratitude on a deeper level, what would I like for my relationship with gratitude to look like in the future? What role do I see gratitude playing in my day-to-day life?
How would I define gratitude now?
What feels like the most genuine way for me to regularly express gratitude?
What can help remind me to stop and take time to reflect on what I am grateful for?
How might expressing gratitude more often bring me peace?
