Day 5: Gratitude for Self
Journal prompts to help you express gratitude for YOU
Welcome to Day 5 of the Gratitude Reset series!
Today is not the day to be humble. Today is the day to see and love all the amazing things about YOU. It’s time to show some gratitude for who you are, to acknowledge your own beauty and strength.
Below you will find the audio track for Day 5 and the transcription of the intro/lead-in to the meditation and journaling. The journal prompts are also listed below, in case you aren’t able to listen. As always though, I recommend listening to help create the full meditative journaling experience.
Quick reminder: If you want to receive the daily emails for the Gratitude Reset, opt in to receive them in your settings: souljournalingsessions.substack.com/account. Or simply check the app or this page each day to see the newest post.
Lesson 5: Gratitude for Self
Welcome back to our gratitude journaling course. We are now on Day 5, and today is all about expressing gratitude for ourselves.
We'll dive into what others have seen in us, what we like about ourselves, and the times where we've witnessed our own strength, which are times that we can be thankful for. Today there will be four prompts to cover those areas*, and then we will close again with a fifth and final prompt, which is to write a short thank you note to yourself, simply for being you.
*NOTE: I mistakenly say there are three prompts in the voice track, but there are four, followed by the Thank You note to yourself. Apologies for this error!
Journal Prompts:
What have others seen in me and expressed gratitude for?
What parts of myself am I most proud of? What parts of myself do I want to celebrate?
What do I enjoy most about being in my own company?
Where and when have I shown strength greater than I thought I had?
And finally, now looking at all you have just written, write a short thank you note to yourself for being you.
Again, now is NOT a time to be humble. Head into the comments and tell me why you love YOU. Be PROUD of who you are (and tell us all about it)!
And remember, there is a special gift for anyone who completes all 8 days of this course by the end of the year: a free month of the paid subscription to the Soul Journaling Sessions. All you have to do is leave your reflections below or restack this post to Notes with your reflections or insights.
Help others who might benefit find this course/series. Share it with your friends here on Substack or elsewhere!
With much love & gratitude,
Marcy
I grew up in a culture that chopped down the tall poppies so this one I've had to learn as I've grown into myself.
Others appreciate my sense of humour, my kindness, my listening ability, my ability to tell-it-like-it-is (and possibly my swearing!), my encouragement and my celebration of others.
I am proud that I've navigated so much change in my life, that I've taken steps others have baulked at and tried new things, even if some haven't worked out how I thought they might. I haven't let fear stop me from giving things a go.
I love my own company. I've never been bored. There's always something to think about and I've been getting better and better at feeling things too.
My firstborn child developed an eating disorder as a young teen that lasted many years. Such strength I never knew I had. To watch a human you love self-destruct and try to disappear is something I wouldn't wish on anyone. I dug deep and supported my whole family, learning a huge amount about myself in the process. It was a long, marathon of an experience and we all made it through.
I am grateful for you, Lisa 💖
