Day 4: Gratitude for Others
Journal prompts to help identify and express gratitude for others
To my friends here in the US, Happy Thanksgiving! To everyone else, Happy Thursday and almost weekend!
Appropriately, today’s session is focused on the people in our lives that we are thankful for. So if you’re looking for something to say around the Thanksgiving table today, this might give you some inspiration.
Below you will find the audio track for Day 4 and transcription of the intro/lead-in to the meditation and journaling. The journal prompts are also listed below, in case you aren’t able to listen. As always though, I recommend listening to help create the full meditative journaling experience.
Quick reminder: If you want to receive the daily emails for the Gratitude Reset, opt in to receive them in your settings: souljournalingsessions.substack.com/account. Or simply check the app or this page each day to see the newest post.
Lesson 4: Gratitude for Others
Welcome back! We are now on Day 4 of our course and today, we'll be focusing on expressing gratitude for others.
I find it can be easier to view gratitude first through the lens of being thankful for others in our lives. Sometimes it is a lot easier to see the good in other people around us than it is to see it in ourselves and our circumstances.
We'll start be journaling more in a list format about the people we're thankful for, and we'll end by writing a short Thank You note to one of the people we have on our list. So today there will be three prompts to help you create that list, then a fourth and final prompt to write the thank you note.
Journal Prompts:
Who in my life am I most grateful for?
Who has supported me the most on my journey? Who has always been there for me?
Who inspires me, or whose work do I admire? You may not even know them personally, but they help lift your mood or get you through a tough day (artist, writer, musician, teacher or guide, someone on social, etc)
Select someone from your list of people in your life that you are grateful for. Write them a short thank you note, acknowledging what they mean to you and how grateful you are for them and their wisdom.
Who is the recipient of your short Thank You note? How do you plan to share this gratitude with them? (You can share the note with them if you want, or find another way to share your gratitude—whatever feels right to you!)
And remember, there is a special gift for anyone who completes all 8 days of this course by the end of the year: a free month of the paid subscription to the Soul Journaling Sessions. All you have to do is leave your reflections below or restack this post to Notes with your reflections or insights.
Help others who might benefit find this course/series. Share it with your friends here on Substack or elsewhere!
With much love & gratitude,
Marcy
Ahhhh.... this is a long and lovely list. It grows with each day and I am very good at telling the humans in my life how much I value them (I have friends who've commented on this!) but I've decided to let them all know this Festive Season via personal messages or emails (because I don't think I could afford the postage at the moment!! 3€ for a stamp for outside Europe is a lot when you have many tens of wonderful people to write to!)
A whole slew of people came to mind! And I realised how grateful I am to have those people in my life! Like how beautiful is it that I couldn't choose one, right? Gosh!
I might spend the whole day writing thank you letters to those I'm extremely grateful for!
