Day 3: Your Gratitude Blocks (Part 2 of 2)
Journal prompts to help you overcome your gratitude blocks
Welcome back! It’s Day 3 of our Gratitude Reset journaling practice, and it is the second part our exploration into Gratitude Blocks. These are the beliefs or perceptions that often prevent you from fully embracing gratitude or that make you feel resistant to starting (and maintaining) a meaningful practice.
In our last session, we focused on identifying the blocks, and in this session, we focus on how we might overcome them.
Below you will find the audio track for Day 3. The journal prompts are also listed below, in case you don’t want to listen—though I recommend listening to help create the full meditative journaling experience.
Quick reminder: If you want to receive the daily emails for the Gratitude Reset, opt in to receive them in your settings: souljournalingsessions.substack.com/account. Or simply check the app or this page each day to see the newest post.
I hope you gain valuable insights from today’s session!
Lesson 3: Your Gratitude Blocks, Part 2
Journal Prompts:
Gratitude doesn't have to be an over-the-top expression. How can I reframe how I view or define gratitude in order to help me overcome my blocks toward it?
How might I be able to strike a healthy balance between expressing gratitude and acknowledging the challenges and difficulties of others?
Why is it important for me to ultimately acknowledge the gifts I've been given in this lifetime?
How can my gratitude help me support or serve both myself and others?
Did anything interesting come up for you today in your journaling? What do you think will help create a more balanced gratitude practice? Feel free to share so we can all learn from one another!
And remember, there is a special gift for anyone who completes all 8 days of this course by the end of the year: a free month of the paid subscription to the Soul Journaling Sessions. All you have to do is leave your reflections below or restack this post to Notes with your reflections or insights.
With much love & gratitude,
Marcy
Helping others with gratitude is something I do through my work as an educator and mentor. It's an integral part of my life, perhaps even more than I'd realised after considering these journal prompts. Thank you for the insights!
Since I was a child, for specific instances I was always told, "oh what problems could you have? You're in a much better place than we ever were! You've been given everything now!" by my parents.
It felt like it was wrong of me to complain. And because of that I could never be truly grateful too!
Ever since I've started to sit down with my emotions... especially on my bad days, and let it flow through me by acknowledging it rather than sinking into it...things have been exponentially better!
I've become better at showing gratitude, receiving from others, being in the moment and so on!
Again, thanks a lot for this series Marcy! I'm able to sit with and process many things that happened this year too!
