Our Journaling with Astrology & Tarot Meditative Journaling Series continues this month with Pisces and the Moon. First, I’m sharing my personal experience as a Pisces. I hope this helps you spot the themes of Pisces and the Moon in your own life.

Ah, my favorite Astrological season is upon us: Pisces (February 18-March 20)!
You can probably guess that this is my Sun sign, and I’m proud to be a Pisces—even if I do sometimes feel flooded by my feelings. Learning to flow with my feelings in a healthy way is something I’ve been working on my whole life, but I feel it is a fair trade-off for being able to live in this dreamy, intuitive space.
“She’s too sensitive” (aka my personal brand)
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been considered a Sensitive Soul. From the day I entered school, I was considered a problem, branded by teachers as overly sensitive and emotionally immature.
I cried when I got scared.
I cried when someone was mean to me or someone else.
I cried when people yelled.
I cried when I got something wrong.
And all of this unfortunately occurred rather often. It got to the point where I would avoid any “mean” teachers (such as the gym or art teacher, who might yell a lot or have a critical tone) by saying I didn’t feel well and needed to go to the nurse. I spent A LOT of time with the school nurse.
Fortunately, my mother was my advocate, calling and visiting teachers and principals, trying to get them to understand that I was just a bit different than the others but ultimately still a good kid. She had my back even though she herself also struggled to help me sort through my emotions, eventually growing impatient with me and yelling. Despite her best efforts, I often felt misunderstood.
Understanding My Pisces Magic
I learned to cozy up to my imagination for comfort, preferring to write and to lose myself in books and stories. It was very easy for me to dip into the realm of imagination and spend hours in it. But my imagination would sometimes get out of hand, especially when I let myself visualize all the negative or worst-case scenarios that could occur the next day at school.
To be honest, for most of my life, I’ve struggled to find the right balance between imagining my perfect dream life and spiraling into the land of nightmares.
Seeing a therapist in college helped me begin to sort through all of my feelings, but it wasn’t until my 30s that I learned my sensitivity could be a gift and not a curse. I finally discovered spirituality beyond the walls of organized religion, thanks to starting a yoga practice, listening to Gabby Bernstein interviews, and diving into the work of former Chicago TV News reporter Jen Weigel (who has written several books on spirituality and mediumship specifically).
Before that point, I didn’t really know what intuition was or that you could have a Spirit Guide. I didn’t know what it meant to be an Empath or a Highly Sensitive Person. I didn’t know what it meant to really connect with your Higher Self and the spiritual realm. When I learned about all of this, a whole new world opened for me, and I felt right at home. In this world, I found a way to listen to and honor myself, and to trust that my sensitivity is a gift and not a curse.
Sensitivity and empathy are part of my magic. Feeling so much allows me to experience fully the highs and lows, the ebb and flow of life. It makes it possible for me to deeply connect with others and to dream of a better world for us all.
Life as a Pisces
As with any Astrological sign, Pisces has its ups and downs. It is possible to have a healthy expression of a sign’s traits and an unhealthy expression. As always, tending toward the extremes is where things tend to go awry, and finding the right balance is where the magic happens. But I believe we must first experience some of those extremes in order to discover our perfect balance, our own unique expression of our Sun sign.
My personal mission as a Pisces in this lifetime is to trust that if I surrender, listen to, and honor my feelings, intuition, and spiritual guidance, I will get where I need to go. I will find myself exactly where I am most needed.
Featured Moon cards in order of appearance: The Modern Goddess Tarot by Cecilia Lattari, The Cozy Witch Tarot by Amanda Lovelace, The Light Seer’s Tarot by Chris-Anne, the Mystic Mondays Tarot by Grace Duong, and Moon Void Tarot by Stefanie Caponi. I love the ethereal vibes these all give off, naturally drawing us inward while also encouraging us to consult the cosmos and Spirit World.
Pisces & The Moon
Key themes that link Pisces and its corresponding Tarot card, the Moon, include much of what I mentioned from my own personal experience. Here’s an overview of what you’ll want to focus on when working with the energy of Pisces and the Moon:
Subconscious beliefs and feelings
Releasing false or old stories, mindsets, and beliefs
Striking a balance between dream and nightmare, differentiating reality from illusion
Tapping into intuition to help you see the truth
Calling upon your team in Spirit and watching/listening for the signs
The Moon calls us inward and asks us to dive into the subconscious to discover what’s hiding beneath the surface. It asks us to uncover the subconscious beliefs we might be reflecting outward into our day-to-day lives, and to turn to our intuition as our guiding light. Our intuition will help us see what is real and what is imagined, and it will help us release both the conscious and unconscious beliefs holding us back.
Pisces energy is here to encourage us to feel it all, even if it is uncomfortable, and reinforces our need to listen to our feelings and intuition. And as the final Zodiac sign in the Astrological year, it also reminds us that we are all connected, so this deep personal work we’re doing serves the greater good. For this reason, it is important for us to continue to dream our beautiful dreams and believe in the possibilities. (The Moon, meanwhile, helps us release the illusions that keep us from those dreams.)
It’s up to each of us to uncover the illusions and see the truth, then use that knowledge to bring to life the dreams we actually want to manifest. Above all, when working with this energy, trust that your intuition and your Spirit Team will help clear any fog in front of you.

Journaling with Astrology & Tarot: Pisces & The Moon
I’m trying something new with these Astrology & Tarot explorations. I was previously doing these as a three-part mini audio course for paid subscribers that I also published on Insight Timer, but I’ll be honest—it’s a lot for me to record, and also I think it’s a lot for you all, too, to squeeze into your busy lives.
In this new format I’m trying out, I created just one set of journal prompts to help you dive into the themes of Pisces and the Moon. This is available to all subscribers below, along with a sound healing track to listen to while you journal.
Then, for my paid subscribers, I created a Soul Journaling Session with one key prompt for the Soul. I wrote it in such a way that you can use this session and prompt every day of Pisces Season if you want to—or do it for however long you’d like to work with the energy! Paid subscribers, you can access that here:
I’m opening up the Chat to my paid subscribers to help us share anything that comes up as we work with this energy. Paid subscribers also receive a one-card reading and personalized journaling prompt for each Astrological season.*
*Note: I’m making additional changes to the paid subscription, including how many slots I have available for monthly one-card pulls. I’m reaching the limit of how many folks I have space to do a monthly card pull for, so for this reason, only the next 5 people to upgrade to paid will receive a monthly one-card reading with a personalized journal prompt. More changes are coming soon, and I’ll share them in the coming weeks!

Amazing! You may not claim to be an astrologer, but your explanation and relation to the current sun signs is my current favourite iteration. I deeply feel what you’ve written here. My own tendency has been to live so far in the future (future-casting I call it) that I am not present in the current moment. I’ve come a long way! It sounds like you have too. 🤗♥️
