What do you hold onto?
Your Journal Prompts This Week:
When I'm moving or clearing space, what physical or digital items do I tend hold on to?
Which items do I tend to debate whether to keep, and somehow always still make the cut?
What stories do I have around these things I hang onto, and how does that impact my decision around whether to keep them?

Lately, I've been doing a lot of physical and mental clearing. Every time we move to a new home, I am confronted with what feels like an overwhelming amount of physical and digital clutter. And as I learn more and more about Holistic Interior Design and Feng Shui, I realize that this clutter is impacting me on a deeper level.
I don't know about you, but whenever I sit down to sort through my stuff, I always start out so positive: Of course, YES, I am going cut 50% of this! But very quickly, that turns into a couple hours of reminiscing and internal debate as I touch each item. I wish it was easy as asking myself whether something gives me joy, but it's rarely that simple.
This had me thinking about the stories behind the items we hold onto. Personally, I think it is the story that often leads us to hang on. How can we edit that story so we can release an item, or how can we preserve a story without having the item associated with it attached to us for life? Is that possible? I'd love to know what you think after you work through the journal prompts. And if you're someone who holds onto a lot of things...you're not alone! Maybe we can help each other learn to let go.
NEW: Prompts for Content Creators!
If you're a fellow content creator or creative, I'd love to try something new with you. With these prompts I send each week, I want to explore how we can use these to help us create. These could be a way to help us get organized to create more fluidly, or these could be prompts that inspire us to create a piece of writing, artwork, music, etc. for social, our websites, or a bigger project.
This week, I'd like to focus on all our content/idea clutter. I have a real problem with this. I have so many ideas and notes that sit in notebooks or in the notes app on my phone that have yet to see the light of day. And maybe they aren't all meant to, but they weigh heavy on me anyway! So to help you assess your relationship with your ideas, here's a reframe of the above questions:
Content Creator Prompts:
What are some creative ideas I've been holding onto and that keep returning to me?
What stops me from taking action on these creative ideas? What story exists behind this?
How do I know when it is time to take action on an idea and when it is time to let go? What signs or signals can I look for?
Bonus challenge for creators: If you were to create with no agenda, what would you create? Take one step toward creating this item, even if it is a small step! Share it with me via email or on Instagram.
