Do you have good luck?
Your Journal Prompts This Week:
How do I define luck?
When in my life or within my own personal story have I experienced "good luck"?
How might I create more opportunities for myself and others to experience luck in their lives?
The date of July 11, or 7-11, makes me smile every year.
My dad, who passed away in 2018, was a Capricorn who loved his routines. And now that I understand more about the rituals we create in our daily lives, I realize he had his own daily ritual that was soothing to him: Every morning on his way into work, he went to the neighborhood 7-Eleven convenience store for his coffee and some scratch-off Illinois lottery tickets.
My dad was a pretty lucky man who won quite a bit on these tickets over the years. After paying for four kids to go through college (because he did not have the opportunity or means to attend himself as a young adult), he welcomed any extra monetary boost he could get. He used to call his good fortune with the tickets "Farrey luck."
So when 7-11 rolls around every year, it's kind of my family's lucky day--and now that dad is no longer with us, it is a reminder of his lucky and optimistic spirit.
There's that old quote that "luck is when preparation meets opportunity." What do you think luck is? Is it this or something perhaps more . . . magical? Can you spread your luck around? I encourage you to explore your relationship to luck with the journal prompts above.
Happy 7-11!
With much love & gratitude,
Marcy
