Reclaim the byline of your story
Your Journal Prompts This Week:
Which stories or types of stories from my own life do I tend to:
share broadly with others?
share only with those closest to me?
keep to myself?
Which stories in my life do I feel at odds with, or do I feel discomfort around?
If any of my stories were left untold in this lifetime, which one(s) would I regret not having shared?
I believe that your life is one long story, and that story is made up of a lot of smaller stories, similar to chapters, each building upon one another in ways seen and unseen. We each have our own unique and beautiful stories, and I believe we should all feel empowered to share them if we want to.
Unfortunately, we can abandon or lose sight of our own stories in so many ways: by letting other people tell our stories, by living out stories someone else has created for us, or by simply believing untrue stories about ourselves.
Over the past year, as I've worked on building my businesses (Farrey Communications and Marcy Farrey Yoga), I've come to realize that, regardless of what I'm doing, my focus is always on storytelling. I've slowly been nudged to begin to view them as one, and when I do that, I see that my intention is to help others find and explore their stories through a body, mind, and soul approach. My mission is to help them reclaim the bylines of their own stories and ultimately become storytellers themselves.
With this realization, I have decided to make some shifts. You'll see I changed the header on this email to my Instagram name, "The Mystical Farrey." I came up with that as a play on my maiden name (pronounced Fairy), and because I believe that storytelling, in and of itself, is magic. And if each person has their own unique magic or talent, storytelling is definitely mine! If I were to regret having not broadly shared a part of my story in this lifetime, it would be that.
This doesn't mean the yoga aspect is going away: it is part of the mind, body, soul approach, and I will still be incorporating it in my offerings. I simply felt that "Marcy Farrey Yoga" was no longer a full representation of what I'm doing in this space.
To show you what I mean by this mind/body/soul approach, I am offering something new in a couple weeks. The Summer Story Workshop is a gentle movement, meditation, and journaling workshop. We will explore together the story we'd like to tell through this next season of our lives. You can find more details below.
With much love & gratitude,
Marcy
Summer Story Workshop
Sunday, June 26, 2022 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET
75-minute session
Cost: $22
This workshop will call you to tap into the story you'd like to tell through your life this summer, using a combo of mind, body, and soul work. Together we'll do some gentle movement, rest in restorative postures, spend time in meditation, and journal our thoughts and ideas. By the end of this session, you'll have a vision of the story that you'll be moving through in this next season or chapter of your life.
If you can't join us live, a recording will be available afterward.
P.S. We just wrapped up the first season of Soulpreneur Sundays. Catch up on all 10 episodes now on Apple Podcasts or watch on YouTube. If you've listened, we'd love to hear your feedback!
