I don't know what to do.
Your Journal Prompts This Week:
What truths or harsh realities am I currently struggling to comprehend?
How do I typically respond to feelings of helplessness?
What fuels me with hope in the face of helplessness (whether these are big or small things, done privately or with others)?
Where do I have an opportunity to serve or to learn more?
There's a collective heaviness going into this week. It's hard to believe that just a couple weeks ago, we watched conflicting countries gather together at the Olympics, and not more than a few days later, conflict promptly took over.
It's hard to believe that we live in a world in which human beings still turn to physical harm and aggression to get their way, to release their anger, or to prove a point. And it seems all too easy to feel powerless and hopeless in the face of these harsh realities.
How do we, as individuals who are not world leaders or in positions of power, stop these things from happening? And even if we did have all the power, exactly how would we do it? As our minds spin around these questions, we know the world continues to hurt. Yes, we can try harder, but our minds struggle with the fact that there is no fast, easy solution that we are in control of.
I am not here to say I have the answers or any type of quick fix. I am here to say that I see and feel you, and you're not the only one who is struggling with these thoughts and questions.
So this week I simply want to offer you an opportunity to examine any feelings of helplessness and acknowledge them, rather than bury them down, give up, or continue to spin over them. These journal prompts can apply to feelings of helplessness in the face of world conflict or feelings of helplessness toward a situation you might be struggling with in your own life.
May we each bring support, love, kindness, empathy, peace, or compassion to all who need it, in our own unique and special ways, this week and always.
With much love & gratitude,
Marcy
