Show up as you are, right now
"I Show Up As I Am."
What imperfections do I work to keep hidden?
How do my efforts to hide these imperfections impact my ability to move forward with ideas, projects, or goals? What excuses do they lead me to make?
How does this impact my ability to show up and be present?
In a recent Moon Circle gathering led by Rachel Crawford, she asked us to create an affirmation for ourselves related to a new habit we wanted to form. What came through for me was this statement: "I show up as I am."
Where did this come from? The new habit I want to form is blocking time on my schedule to work on my businesses, specifically creating content so I can call in and build my community. I can easily schedule time for meetings with my communications clients, and to work on their projects, but I do not schedule time in to work on my own.
When I really sat and thought about where my resistance to scheduling this time comes from, it all came back to fear. There were a lot of excuses buried under there, masquerading as high standards (perfectionism), but they all were tactics that my fear was using to avoid doing the work and putting it out into the world. I was scared of how it would be received, and what that might mean for me: What if no one cares, what if no one likes it? Will I have to go back to a corporate job?!
In order to break past the excuses and the fear, I realized there was only one solution: just show up anyway. Show up, as I am, unpolished and unsure of where this is all headed. And maybe, with each little action I take, I can start to chip away at the fear, heal it, and eventually find my way through it.
And then I thought about what would happen if all of us did this. Imagine how much goodness we would share that would have otherwise been left hidden!
And so my message (or prayer) for all of you this week is:
May we no longer hide. May we show up as the people we are, right now. May we inspire others with our authenticity and presence.
September Offerings
The second class in the Honor Your Pace Yoga & Journaling Series is available now, and it is a full 60-minute Restorative Yoga class that explores a slower pace. In a Restorative Yoga class, we do only a few postures and hold them for longer periods of time, with the goal of getting nice, rested, and cozy in them. It's a lovely, peaceful practice if you are looking to slow down and tune in.
Two more recorded classes will be released this month, including a hybrid class with slow flow and restorative postures, and then the final class is a guided meditation with journaling. We'll use that final class as an opportunity to reflect on all that came up in the previous classes.
Welcome in a New Season: Sacred Journaling Circle on Tuesday, September 21 at 5 PM PT
I felt called to reschedule the Sacred Journaling Circle to coincide with the Autumn Equinox on September 22. I will pull cards for the group that will inform our theme for the evening, and I will also pull one card for each attendee. We'll start with our journal prompts and end with a guided meditation journey. A recording will be sent out afterward if you are unable to join us live.
Feel free to reach out with any questions or to share insights from your journaling! Hit reply on this email or DM me on Instagram (@themysticalfarrey).
