Long Weekend Recovery
A Balance of Work & Rest
When do I feel inspired to rest?
When do I feel inspired to work?
What would my life look like if, for one full day, I didn't do or think about anything that was considered work or work-related?
How would that feel?
For anyone in the US, I hope that you enjoyed your three-day Labor Day weekend! If you are not in the U.S. or were not able to enjoy a day off (and not by your own choice), I see you, too. Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, if no one has said thank you to you lately for all of your hard work, I would like to take this time to acknowledge and thank you for everything you do, big and small.
Up until I went full time on my own businesses in June, I used to have what I've heard people call "the Sunday Scaries," and I had it with pretty much every traditional job I ever had. It was that feeling of dread that the weekend was over, and I had to wake up early the next day and do it alllll over again. And that feeling was even worse on a three-day weekend. I'd have to get up and work with the same difficult people, doing the same monotonous or frustrating things, unable to do or spend time on the things that really lit me up. All the coffee in the world couldn't save me on those Monday morning meetings, and trust me, it showed.
It took me a long time to see any other reality, to see that there could be any another way to live and be. So if right now you're at your desk at that job that bores you or that you can't stand, I encourage you to explore the above journal prompts, especially that last question. It starts with just letting yourself dream.
And if you already love your work, I still think these are good questions to explore. Even when we love our work, and maybe especially when we love our work, we can become prone to overworking. Even when you're your own boss, you can fall victim to the hustle or urgency culture that surrounds us. So take a break to journal with the questions above!
To coincide with Labor Day and exploring these questions, I've launched a new Yoga & Journaling Series called "Honor Your Pace." In it, we explore the ideal pace for us, separate from external forces or influences. The first class is available now, and three more will be released this month. Classes drop in the MemberVault portal every Monday through September. If you're looking for a post-Labor Day practice to help you switch gears from weekend to weekday mode, this is a great one to explore!
September Schedule
NEW DATE - Sacred Journaling Circle: Tuesday, September 21 at 5 PM PT
I felt called to reschedule the Sacred Journaling Circle to coincide with the Autumn Equinox, so we will now gather on the 21st, ahead of the equinox on September 22. I will pull cards for the group that will inform our theme for the evening, and I will also pull one card for each attendee. We'll start with our journal prompts and end with a guided meditation journey. A recording will be sent out afterward if you are unable to join us live.
Yoga & Journaling Embodied Reading Classes LIVE on Zoom:
September 14 at 4 PM PT & September 26 at 9 AM PT
I will offer two live Embodied Reading Classes in September. The theme, of course, is to be determined! The cards I pull will create the class theme, and I'll share them on social media. If you want to save your spot, register now for $8 per class!
If you can't make it live, a recording will be available. Classes will combine Gentle Flow & Restorative postures, with journal prompts between.
The FREE Embodied Reading series that just wrapped up is also still available. All recordings are available on MemberVault now for you to take anytime!
Feel free to reach out with any questions or to share insights from your journaling! Hit reply on this email or DM me on Instagram (@themysticalfarrey).
